■導入のSmall Talk 例Who am I? Quiz

　前時までに学習した表現を使って、「Who's this?」 クイズを出します。児童がよく知っている人物（同じ学校の先生やスポーツ選手などの有名人）やキャラクターなどを答えに設定し、顔写真や似顔絵などを準備しておくといでしょう。

T：（顔写真や似顔絵の顔を隠しながら）
　　Who's this? She’s a teacher in this school.
S： Ms. Ito?
T： No. She can ski well. She can’t play the piano.
　　She can sing well.
S： Ms. Takagi?
T： That's right. This is Ms. Takagi.
　　She can ski well. She can’t play the piano.
　　She can sing well.
T： （写真の顔を隠しながら）
　　Who's this? He’s also a teacher in this school.
　　He can cook well. He can’t eat natto.
　　He can play baseball well.
S： Mr. Yamamoto?
T： That's right.
　　This is Mr. Yamamoto. He can cook well.
　　He can't eat natto. He can play baseball well.

■導入のSmall Talk 例楽器の演奏

　教科書p.53「Activity」にある楽器を紹介し、それらを演奏できるかどうかを児童に尋ねます。

T： Look at these pictures. They are musical instruments.
　　This is a recorder. I can play the recorder.
　　S1, can you play the recorder?
S1： Yes.
T： You can play the recorder. Good.
　　S1 can play the recorder. This is a piano.
　　I can't play the piano. How about you?
　　S2, can you play the piano?
S2： Yes.
T： Wonderful. Look! What's this?
S： ピアニカ！
T： Yes. It's a melodica. I can play the melodica.
　　Can you play the melodica?
S： Yes.
T： Wonderful.

■Did you know?カタカナ語

　外来語は、カタカナを使って表記されます。似た発音を表現できるので、日本人にとっては理解しやすいのですが、英語本来の発音を細かく表現しきれないため、ネイティブスピーカーには正しく伝わらないことがあります。
　カタカナ語と英語の発音を比較することで、その違いを知り、英語らしく伝わりやすい発音を心がけることができます。また、この比較によって、英語への理解をさらに深めるとともに、日本語への理解や興味を深めることにもつながります。
